Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) measures the amount of calories the client expends during rest. This measurement is used to determine the following:
- Establishing a Resting Metabolic Rate allows us to set a caloric intake guideline for the client that will ensure weight loss.
- By using the resting metabolic rate to set this guideline, if the client is taking in only what the body needs to maintain itself at rest, any activity over and above rest constitutes a caloric deficit.
